Seagate NAS OS is used by small organisation to satisfy their data sharing and backup requirements.
It employs Seagate’s SimplyRAID proprietary technology and can be configured in a variety of levels depending on the number of hard drives in the enclosure. Seagate has a NAS OS Rescue tool which is preconfigured on a USB key for desktop NAS devices.
To prepare for data rescue, the NAS OS device’s MAC address is required for each LAN port. Either can be used for the installer. The MAC address will be on a label on the device itself. The USB key allows you to boot the NAS OS device and run the installer, although you may need to download a more recent version.
To update the USB key, simply go to http://www.seagate.com/naskey and follow the instructions. The NAS OS Installer will attempt to repair the NAS. To avoid data loss, back up all shares before running the installer.
